The Chargers' training camp is in full swing, and the young offensive linemen are stepping up to the challenge. On Day 14, the group had its best day of camp, particularly in 1-on-1 drills against defensive linemen and edge rushers. Joe Alt, Tyler Biadasz, Kayode Awosika, and Travis Burke shone in these drills, with Awosika and Slaughter sharing reps at left guard. The defense also stood out, with Jamaree Caldwell and Andre Carter making clean wins, and Terry Webb drawing a likely holding call.
Justin Herbert was on fire, connecting with Amar Johnson and Ladd McConkey for touchdowns in a red-zone drill. He also had a 20-plus yard gain and a 40-plus yard gain in full-team drills. However, it's worth noting that Brenen Thompson might have used the play as a learning moment, as he was untouched when going the ground and wasn't touched after. Trey Lance led a touchdown drive in a 2-minute drill, capped off with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Oronde Gadsden.
The Chargers' kicker, Cameron Dicker, made all six of his field goal tries, including a 49-yarder. Dicker has been superb in camp, making 23 of 24 field goals in team drills and 30 for 32 overall. He's the most accurate kicker in NFL history, and the Chargers still have perhaps the best kicker in the league.
In other news, the Chargers will practice at 10 a.m. at The Bolt on Monday before a joint practice with the 49ers on Tuesday. The team is making strides in all areas, and the young players are stepping up to the challenge. The Chargers are looking to build on their success in the preseason and are on track to have a strong season.
